The Australian Dental Association and the federal government have all Australian dentists on level 1 restrictions to prevent the spread of this infection (as of the 1/4/2021).
What this means is that we can offer a full range of dental treatments to any patient who reasonably believes that they are Coronavirus free.
1. You have not under a current order to quarantine 2. You have not come in contact with any person suspected of having Coronavirus within the last 14 days 3. You are not experiencing any symptoms such as * Cough * Fever * Shortness on breath
The problem with Coronavirus is that it exists in our saliva, even before we experience any symptoms or know that we have it. For dentistry the problem is that whenever we use a drill or a scaler (which is all the time) we create a fine mist of saliva. This fine mist or aerosol of saliva (which could contain Coronavirus) will then infect anyone not wearing specialised protective equipment working in a contained facility. This aerosol can then linger in the air for several hours affecting anyone who enters the room.
KEEPING YOU SAFE
In dentistry we have been focused on infection control for over 20 years. We continue to exceed the latest infection control recommendations for Coronavirus in the surgery and reception areas for the safety of our team, our patients and the whole community.
