Our practice recommends 6 monthly dental checkups and cleans unless otherwise advised by our dentist. We maintain a reminder system to help our patients avoid missing their dental checkups and cleans.
We cannot emphasise the importance of regular dental checkups for the prevention of tooth decay and gum disease. Regular checkups allow us to monitor any changes to your dental condition and gum health. Along with a healthy diet we will advise you of strategies to reduce any negative changes to your dental tissues, be it your teeth, gums or jaw joint (TMJ - temporomandibular joint). Almost all people should have their dental checkups performed every 6 months.
Dental Bite-wings (x-rays) should be taken every 2 years to allow us to view areas that are not visible to the eye or dental explorer (probe) during a regular dental examination. OPGs are taken every 3-5 years. Some changes that are caught early can be reversed with the application of fluorides or sealants. Dietary advice and oral hygiene instruction can also help in reversing negative changes to teeth and gums.
Healthy teeth and gums allow us to eat comfortably and smile more. Various studies have shown a relationship between dental gum disease and heart disease. Well functioning teeth and gums will enhance the quality and possibly the length of your life.
If it has been longer than 6 months since your last dental Check Up and Clean call us or make an appointment online NOW! Make good dental health a priority.
Dental procedures have risks. Prior to having a procedure, you should seek a professional opinion from a properly qualified health practitioner. Individual results can vary.
