5 TIPS TO REDUCE BLEEDING GUMS
If you've noticed a bit of blood in the sink after brushing or flossing, you're not alone.
Bleeding gums can be a common issue, but the good news is that it’s often manageable with a few easy adjustments to your oral care routine.
Let’s dive into some friendly advice on how to keep your gums healthy and happy!

1. BRUSH PROPERLY BUT GENTLY
One of the main culprits of bleeding gums is aggressive brushing.
While it’s important to clean your teeth thoroughly, brushing too hard can often irritate your gums.
When using an electric toothbrush do not push too hard , let the toothbrush do the work for you.
For a manual toothbrush choose a soft-bristled toothbrush and use gentle, circular motions.
This method not only helps remove plaque but also protects your gum tissue from damage.
2. DON'T SKIP FLOSSING
Flossing daily is essential for maintaining healthy gums.
It helps remove food particles and plaque from between your teeth, areas that your toothbrush can't reach.
If your gums bleed when you first start flossing, don’t worry!
With consistent flossing, the bleeding should decrease as your gums become healthier.
3. USE ANTIBATERIAL MOUTHWASH
Incorporating an antibacterial mouthwash into your routine can reduce gum inflammation and bleeding.
Look for a mouthwash that is designed to kill bacteria and reduce plaque.
My favourite is Curasept Mouthwash
Rinse twice a day—once in the morning and once before bed—for the best results.
4. MAINTAIN A BALANCED DIET
A healthy diet is essential for your overall health, and your gums are no exception.
Make sure to include plenty of fruits and vegetables, which are rich in vitamins and antioxidants.
Foods high in vitamin C, like oranges and strawberries, can help strengthen your gums and reduce bleeding.
Avoid excessive consumption of sugary snacks and drinks, as they can contribute to plaque buildup and gum disease.
5. STAY HYDRATED
Drinking plenty of water is not only good for your body but also for your oral health.
Water helps wash away food particles and bacteria that can lead to gum irritation and bleeding.
Make it a habit to rinse your mouth with water after meals if you can’t brush right away.
BONUS TIP: REGULAR DENTAL CHECKUPS
Last but certainly not least, don’t forget to visit Clubb Dental regularly.
